Ink
thinner-reducer is provided solely for the purpose of softening ink
that has become too dry and tacky on the machine for marking. It is
used to extend the usefulness of an application of ink on the machine.
It is NOT intended and should NOT be used for cleaning of the machine.
When an application of ink becomes too dry on the machine for effective
marking, the ink may be restored to original consistency while on the
machine and marking may be resumed without addition of more ink to the
machine. The procedure is:
1. Remove the print unit with print die from the print arm of the machine.
2. Place a smear of thinner-reducer across the machine ink roll. Be
careful not to add too much. It takes very little.
3. Cycle the machine a number of times to evenly distribute the thinner
on the ink roll and the ink plate. (The process may be expedited by
manually rotating the machine ink plate about a quarter turn between
machine cycles and repeating until finished.)
4. Replace the print unit with print die on the print arm of the machine
and begin marking parts again.
If too much thinner was added to the ink supply, some of the ink must
be removed from the machine. Using your cleanup solvent and a lint free
wiper, remove some ink from the ink roll of the machine. Cycle the machine
to re-coat the ink roll with the ink remaining on the ink plate.
NEVER ADD REDUCER DIRECTLY TO EPOXY INK SUPPLY CONTAINERS. This will
cause epoxy inks to polymerize.
